About Brian |
|
Brian is a resident of Bel Air in the “Heart of Harford.” His wife, Kate Young, and he have a one-year old son, Julian. Brian and Kate base their family on the conservative values of family first, frugal spending, hard work, and involvement in the community. They believe that the hard work of a family and the individual can make a difference: it is a little family experiment with gardening, not big government programs, that shows what is needed to fix the American social and economical problems of today. As a frugal family must find creative ways to live within a budget, so must a responsible government serve its citizens while staying within its means.
Brian is an attorney at a small firm in Bel Air, Maryland. His general practice focuses on contracts, civil litigation, and family law. After earning a bachelor of arts in history and political science from Salisbury University, Brian graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2007 and was sworn in to the Maryland bar later that year. As an attorney, Brian has a knowledge of the law that will be useful to him in serving on the Republican Central Committee. Fighting the massive size and continual growth of the Maryland Code is one of Brian’s motivations in leading conservative efforts to constrict government encumbrances on the people.
Brian is an Eagle Scout and continues to support the values and morals of the Scouting organization. Brian is also an alumnus of Bel Air High School.
In 2010, Brian is serving as Coordinator for Andy Harris for Congress with a great group of committee members. He is also a co-manager for Citizens to Elect Wayne Norman and is helping to elect Senator Barry Glassman.
Brian is currently on the Board of Directors of the Republican Club of Harford County, and in that capacity recently led efforts to establish a special fund to encourage Republican candidates to work together for the success of the party on Election Day. Brian is currently helping the Board develop a forum at the August 25, 2010 club meeting for Republican candidates. Feel free to attend!
Brian is the Immediate Past President of the Harford County Young Republicans (or on Facebook). As the President from 2007 to 2009, Brian led the group to double its membership and email list and paired youth with Republican candidates that agreed with their ideals. The group also conducts regular road clean-ups with the Adopt-a-Road program.
Brian is currently a Lieutenant in the Maryland Defense Force, a quasi-military entity dedicated to serving the National Guard and armed forces. Brian is assigned to the Legal Directorate, assisting soldiers with legal matters while they are on deployment.
Brian has been active in Harford County Republican politics since 2001, when he began working for current State Senator Barry Glassman. Brian has worked on several campaigns since that time, including Barry Glassman’s 2002 and 2006 campaigns for House of Delegates, John McCain’s campaign for President in 2008 (as Harford County Coordinator), Michael Steele’s campaign for U.S. Senate in 2006 (leadership), and Bob Ehrlich’s campaign for Governor in 2006.
In 2006, Brian ran for Harford County Council, District C and was honored to receive over 45% of the vote. Brian is hoping that those kind supporters in 2006 will again show their support of conservative values. and Young Ideals for the Grand Old Party and go to the end of the ballot to vote for Brian Young for Republican Central Committee. |
